Ferrara Introduces New Inferno XD at FDIC

0

April 25, 2007

Holden, LA – This past weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana, Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc., a leading manufacturer of custom fire and emergency vehicles, unveiled its new Inferno XD chassis.  The Inferno XD is the extreme duty version of Ferrara’s successful custom fire chassis.  Ferrara chose to introduce the new vehicle at the annual Fire Department Instructors’ Conference (FDIC) and trade show.  The convention attracted nearly 30,000 visitors in what has become the nation’s largest fire industry trade show.  Many of the attendees were crowded into the Ferrara booth, thoroughly impressed by the new Inferno XD.

Company founder and CEO Chris Ferrara proclaimed, “The XD is built to withstand the extreme duty seen each and every day by our fire fighters.  We looked at every aspect of the chassis, focusing as much on the cab as we did on what was going to be required with the new 2007 engines. We design safety into every aspect of our fire apparatus and that is what we used as our guidepost with the Inferno XD.”

The new style Inferno XD features a plastic-free cab interior, easier entry and exit from the cab, improved cab doors, and chassis improvements to both accommodate the new 2007 diesel engines and provide better access for service technicians.  For complete details of the new 2007 Ferrara Inferno XD, please click Inferno XD or open the accompanying attachment.

The Inferno XD is suitable for use on any of Ferrara’s line of fire apparatus.  The new chassis design is approved for use with a wide variety of diesel engines, including the Cummins ISC, ISL and ISM, Detroit Series 60 or Caterpillar C9 and C13, with ranging from 300 to 525 horsepower.

Ferrara builds a complete line of fire apparatus in addition to the Inferno/Igniter custom chassis.  Their entire product line-up includes pumpers and tankers, rear and mid-mount aerial ladders and platforms, rescue and haz-mat vehicles, brush trucks, airport vehicles, command trailers and the Strong Arm fire fighting vehicle.  Ferrara Fire Apparatus is a leading innovator in the fire and emergency vehicle industry.  Their Inferno XD and its companion chassis, the Igniter, are among the most rugged custom fire chassis available and feature optional firefighter safety devices such as Independent Front Suspension, Roll Stability Control, Complete Airbag Protection, and SmartWheel steering systems.
